Randall Stephens, poet.

Performance poet Randall $tephens' work combines humorous, direct, and deeply personal writing with a strong stage presence. His energetic delivery is highly theatrical in style, influenced by film acting, musical performers, hip hop, and stand-up comedy.

Based in Melbourne, Randall toured his poetry extensively around Australia in 2009-2010 with Steve Smart, after completing his first spoken word album Product. In 2011 he completed a two month solo tour of New Zealand, was a featured guest in Singapore's Emerging Writers festival, Litup, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, conducting poetry workshops for schools and community groups. During these tours, Randall devoted all money he received and CD sales to support local charity and disaster relief causes.

He has appeared in poetry slams in New York, London, and international Skype-slams from Melbourne competing against Edinburgh and Singapore, as part of the Melbourne's Overload Poetry festivals.

Randall frequently collaborates with other artists, including poet and film-maker Alex Scott, with whom he together won the Queensland Poetry Festivals Film-makers Challenge award in 2011, with their poetry/animation film “I Statements.” In 2011, Randall joined with musician Kim Lajoie to form “Punch Card Poet,” a musical project that combines industrial metal, electro pop, and middle eastern influences. Their first album Monstrosity was released by Obsessive Music.
