"Speleology" is a film by Duriel E. Harris and Scott Rankin, featuring poetry by Duriel E. Harris. The film was completed in October 2011. It was first screened publicly at the International Literary Film Festival in NYC, November 2011.

Duriel E. Harris.

Duriel E Harris, poet and filmmaker.

Duriel E. Harris is the author of Drag (Elixir Press, 2003) and Amnesiac: Poems (Sheep Meadow Press, 2010). A poet, performer/sound artist and scholar, her work has been featured and published internationally. Harris is a member of Douglas Ewart and Inventions free jazz ensemble, co-founder of Black Took Collective and a fellow of Cave Canem, the MacDowell Colony and the Pan African Literary Forum. She has been awarded grants from the Illinois Arts Council, the Cave Canem Foundation, and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and post-doctoral residencies at the University of Illinois Chicago and the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Her current projects include the AMNESIAC media art project and “Thingification,” a solo play in one act. She is an assistant professor of English and teaches creative writing and poetics at Illinois State University.


Scott Rankin.

Scott Rankin, filmmaker.

Scott Rankin has been making video since 1979. His video and photographic work has been exhibited internationally in galleries, museums and film and video festivals. He is the recipient numerous grants and awards including four artist grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. Since 1994, he is a professor of Art teaching video and advising graduate students in all media at Illinois State University.
